Tubing on the Nile
Tubing on the Nile especially around Jinja is one of the most fun and accessible ways to experience the river without needing advanced rafting skills.
What it’s like
You float down calmer sections of the Nile River on a large inflatable tube, usually with a guide nearby for safety. The current does most of the work, so it’s relaxing but still has moments of excitement with small rapids.
Where to do it
Most tubing trips start near:
- Bujagali Falls (popular launch area)
- Stretches just downstream of Jinja where the river is scenic and not too rough
What to expect
- Calm floating sections mixed with light rapids
- Views of lush riverbanks, birds, and sometimes monkeys
- Safety kayakers or guides accompanying your group
- Trips typically last 2–4 hours
Safety tips
- Always wear a life jacket (provided)
- Go with a reputable operator
- Listen to your guide—some sections can still be surprisingly strong
- Best done in dry seasons for clearer conditions
Popular operators
You’ll find tubing offered by companies in Jinja like:
- Nile River Explorers
- Adrift Uganda
They often combine tubing with other activities like rafting, kayaking, or sunset cruises
