THE BEST ELEPHANT TOUR IN THE UGANDAN ZOO (UWEC)
The sun hanging high in the noon of the day, we a group comprised of 13 people swiftly walk taking a tour through the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC) which is renowned for its conservation efforts and engaging wildlife experiences such as Buffalos, Elephants, Snakes, Shoebill, Rhinos, Lions to mention but a few. While UWEC primarily focuses on native African wildlife, it’s important to note that they don’t offer traditional “tours” like a safari might in the national parks of Uganda. Instead, visitors can explore the center independently or participate in various activities and encounters.
So on this beautiful day, our attention is highly captured by a one Charles of an Elephant whose mother was killed due to poaching and so UWEC rescued and rehabilitated him. Charles is a very friendly and welcoming elephant since he has grown around human interaction and in his eyes all people are nice. Oh! how we adored Charles and had an up-close interaction with him for quite a while and I must say goodbye was quite hard to bid to our now favorite Elephant. Am sure Charles too had quite a time since he was the center of attention from a group of love filled people. He was the last animal we visited in the Zoo and on our departure as our vehicle was exiting UWEC, I looked back with my heart already missing my favorite Elephant and whispered “stay well dear Charles until we meet again”
Interested in having an encounter with Charles? Well, why not send an inquiry or book with us for the lovely experience
