MIGRATION OF WILDEBEESTS

MOUNT KILIMANJARO

Now Voted one of the top three Natural Wonders of Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro is dormant, but not extinct volcano. Ominous rumbles can sometimes be heard, and gases emerge from the fume-holes in the Crater. Although just 3 degrees south of the Equator, the peaks of both Kibo and Mawenzi have permanent cups of snow and ice. Expect to pass from a tropical arctic environment in just a few days. Kilimanjaro can be climbed at any time of the year but the best time is considered to be from August to October and January to March.

KITULO NATIONAL PARK

Known locally as the “God’s Garden” or the “Serengeti of flowers”, Kitulo Plateau has had over 350 species of plants documented to date. Kitulo is the first park in tropical Africa to be recognized largely for its floristic significance. These include 45 species of orchids, many of which are not found anywhere else in the world. Also found in Kitulo is the KIPUNJI or Highlands mangabey, the rarest Monkey in Africa. Soft rolling valleys on a high plateau in the cool uplands of southern Tanzania burst into a seasonal exuberance of flowers and color that is one of the great floral spectacles of the world. Added to its natural attractions, Kitulo Plateau is the natural resting site for intercontinental migrating birds such as the great white stork on the way to Europe. Best times to visit are wetter months of December to April.

ZANZIBAR

Zanzibar is a unique and the right destination for heritage tourism. Apart from stone town- a world heritage site, a collection of buildings has been marked as the most cultured and architecturally important in Zanzibar including Maruhubi Palace & Kizimkazi Mosque. Many of these demonstrate classic features of unique architectural and cultural synthesis.
