THE UGANDAN ROLEX

What comes to your mind when you hear of the Ugandan Rolex? Well, the Ugandan Rolex also called a Uga-roll is a delicious and popular street food from Uganda, not to be confused with the luxury watch brand! It’s a savory snack made by rolling a chapati (a type of flatbread) around an omelet. The name “Rolex” is a playful combination of “roll” and “eggs.”
Here’s a simple way to make one:
1. Ingredients
– Chapati
– Eggs
– Vegetables (like tomatoes, onions, green peppers)
– Salt and pepper
– Oil or butter for cooking

2. Instructions:
1. Prepare the Chapati: If you don’t have pre-made chapati, you can make it from scratch. Just roll out the dough and cook it on a hot skillet until it’s golden brown.

2. Make the Omelet: Beat the eggs in a bowl and season with salt and pepper. Heat some oil or butter in a pan, and add chopped vegetables. Once they’re softened, pour in the beaten eggs and cook until the omelet is set.

3. Assemble the Rolex: Place the omelet on the chapati and roll it up tightly. You can slice it into pieces or eat it as a whole.

The Rolex is loved for its simplicity and the way it combines the flavors of a hearty omelet with the softness of chapati.
